$55/hr - $72/hr W2 Description The incumbent will be responsible for the development, implementation and management of the Roofing Automation and Industry strategy. This new department will develop standards for automation, infrastructure, Information systems and architecture of network to be implemented in Roofing, to leverage technology use to improve, streamline and automate the manufacturing process. The Automation and Industry Manager provides dedicated support to sites within the Roofing Products Group during and after implementation of Industry initiatives with the purpose to accelerate integration and future advancement improvements to support business results. The candidate will Manage, mentor, lead and develop a multidisciplinary team of engineers, in the Automation & Industry 4.0 department to build knowledge and expertise on PLC's, motion control, motor drives, communication protocols, industrial network, and digital tools, to support the existing and future plants (Roofing, Granules and Glass Mat). Has a strong knowledge of Manufacturing processes along with knowledge of MES, Scada, PLC, Sensors, Mobile Devices and RF technologies. The Automation and Industry department is responsible for planning, implementation, and monitoring of new technology with the plants. The department works closely with the Digital Manufacturing team and continuously seeks and utilizes feedback from the Operations team and the Operational Excellence team to create best in class systems. Responsibilities Develop strategy to modernize obsolete motion, controls and automation hardware and software for machines and processes in the plants. Establish a robust plc and firmware backup strategy closing the gaps identified in the Industrial Risk Prevention gaps analysis. Own the deployment of Industrial IT server patches, inventory and updates installed in all the plants and the annual renewal of specialty software needs. Create automation standards and specifications, such as HMI, PLC Hardware, motion controls and motor drives. In collaboration with Industry Program Manager develop the Industry Road map for Roofing Manufacturing. Developing, planning, executing and or coordinating projects defined in the industry 4.0 roadmap. Duties/Responsibilities of the Automation & Industry Department:
Assess the gaps in culture, knowledge, and utilization by engaging all levels of the business from plant floor to business leadership. Champions the Factory
program implementation in the Roofing plants, providing pre-implementation training at the plants, supporting stage-gate review process including the preparation of master data, the change readiness to adopt process initiatives, the Go Live events and the post-implementation hyper-care. Identifies and monitors key measures to ensure project success and prepare management scorecards. Coordinates troubleshooting system performance issues and proposing system improvements including the process of interfacing with the IT team and managing tickets in ServiceNow. Supports the discovery, review, and alignment of initiatives to strategic objectives through the prioritization process. First point of contact for the plants when user issues arise. Continuous collaboration with all Roofing TIP, Digital Manufacturing and DnA academy. The Automation & Industry department is recognized as the Center of technical knowledge for Automation and Industry in Roofing Operations The department provides standards and technology packages that have been developed with the feedback and support of the Digital Manufacturing team, Operational Excellence Team and other inputs within Roofing and are best in class in the Roofing industry. The Automation & Industry department delivers projects within scope, budget and schedule meeting or exceeding the expectations of the plants and business. The Automation and Industry Manager leads the Department to deliver a highly competent level of systems and projects that keeps a strong manufacturing performance of the Roofing plants. Excellent relationship with the Digital Manufacturing, Operational Excellence Team, Technical Office and PMO teams, and all the teams and functions involved in Roofing Operations. Delivers consistent, professional, and highly competent support to the Roofing plants
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Automation, Computer Science 5
years engineering experience in an industrial environment 2
years' experience with project management 2
years Automation experience Core Experience with robotics, AI and machine learning Experience with Microsoft Office package, Excel Advanced, Tableau, Power BI. Minimum 5 years of experience managing teams.
