Data Science Manager
The Chief Data Analytics Office is hiring for a Data Science Manager to support our CXD Strategic and Analytics division.
This individual will be managing a team of data scientists responsible for developing, maintaining, and evolving a portfolio of diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive AI/ML products to support data-driven business decision making.
They will also support the continuous evolution and strategy of Vanguard's data science capabilities.
In this role you will:
Hire, evaluate, and supervise crew.
Provide mentorship and training as necessary to develop crew.
Set performance standards, review performance, and make informed compensation decisions in accordance with all applicable Human Resource policies and procedures.
Oversee and engage in deep dive diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive analytics demonstrating advanced AI/ML methods and tools to support data-driven business decision making.
Work with Data Engineers and ML Engineers to ensure accurate and efficient implementation of data science products to meet business need.
Engage with internal partners to understand and probe business processes in order to develop hypotheses.
Bring structure to requests and translates requirements into an analytic approach.
Identify and diagnose data inconsistencies and errors, document data assumptions, and forages to fill data gaps.
Drive operational plans to achieve department objectives.
Collaborate with department or functional heads in planning, developing, and implementing near-term goals.
Prepare, review, and deliver insight presentations and action recommendations.
Communicate sophisticated analytical findings and implications to business leaders.
Guide test design, research design, and model validation.
Provide statistical consultation services.
Serve as the data science expert on cross functional teams for large critical initiatives and contribute to the growth of the Vanguard AI/ML community.
Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned.
What it takes:
Minimum of five years related work experience in analytical roles.
Experience with data wrangling required - programming skills to access, transform and prepare large scale data for modeling.
Experience utilizing statistical and machine learning methods required.
Undergraduate degree in Analytics, Applied Mathematics, Economics, Statistics or related analytical field of study or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Graduate degree preferred.
