Assistant Controller

Our Corporate offices located in Malvern, PA (suburb of Philadelphia, PA) is on the hunt for an Assistant Controller.
Responsibilities:
The Assistant Controller, working with peer positions in the corporate accounting and financial reporting functions, is responsible for overseeing all day-to-day accounting operations and supervising the performance and development of the accounting team, through one direct report and two indirect reports.
The Assistant Controller is responsible for ensuring the accuracy of financial records and the various monthly, quarterly and year-end reporting deliverables.
This is a new position within the Ecovyst corporate accounting group, and is located at the company's corporate headquarters in Malvern, PA.
More specific responsibilities include:
Manage the monthly and quarterly close calendar processes with peers in corporate accounting and financial reporting; monitor and ensure adherence to deadlines.
Along with the senior accounting manager, ensure account reconciliations and journal entries are prepared and reviewed in a timely manner.
Ensure the accuracy of all financial statement accounts across all legal entities in the consolidation through review, verification and analytics.
In coordination with the manager financial reporting, assistance with the preparation and review of the external financial statements and earnings materials, including iXBRL.
Establish working relationships with the internal and external audit groups, along with the management of audit requests.
Perform technical accounting research, review and documentation related to new accounting guidance, SEC regulations, significant transactions, etc.
Ensure all policies, procedures, processes and practices are in a central location for review/use by all finance/accounting staff and prepare internal reports and special projects, as required; prepare training relevant to areas supervised.
Monitor and enhance internal controls to minimize risk and oversee training and development of supervised staff.
Lead efforts to automate and streamline processes to enhance accuracy of data while minimizing manual requirements.
Back up administrator to the financial consolidation tool (BPC).
Responsible for the coordination of statutory reporting and related audits.
Liaise with the businesses regarding accounting, transactional or other challenges; establish reputation as first point-of-contact.
Responsible for the coordination and review of accounting related matters associated with the Zeolyst International joint venture.
Coordinate and lead an accounting center of excellence covering accounting, accounts receivable and accounts payable across the organizationo Coordinate accounting matters with other departments, including tax, treasury and FP&A.
Various ad hoc projects as needed.
Requirements:
In addition to the necessary skills and experience to perform the responsibilities outlined above, there are a number of traits that a successful candidate will possess.
Technical The Assistant Controller will be an accomplished accounting professional with proven financial and financial-systems skills, solid business acumen and management ability.
Additionally the candidate will possess:
Bachelor's degree in accounting.
CPA certification strongly preferred.
Advanced degree preferred.
Prefer minimum of 7-10 years of corporate accounting experience or combination of public accounting and industry experience.
Experience with SAP, BPC, Workiva, iXBRL, Blackline, LeaseQuery, E TRADE a plus.
Strong technical accounting skills; thorough working knowledge of US GAAP and SEC standards and requirements.
Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word).

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
